Cohort: Three-City Study
Risk Factors:

Introduction to the Cohort
The Three-City (3C) study was established in 1999 to investigate the influence of vascular factors on the risk of dementia and cognitive impairment. Study investigators initially recruited community-dwelling persons ages 65+ from three French cities (Bordeaux, Dijon, and Montpellier) between 1999 and 2000. The 9,294 eligible participants who participated in the baseline examination have since been invited to three waves of follow-up, 2001-2002, 2003-3004, and 2006-2007. At the time of the baseline examination, 60% of the participants were female and they were, on average, 74 years old.

Ethnicity Breakdown
The vast majority (97%) of participants were French speaking and 88% were born in France.

Diagnosis & Evaluation Methods
